Conservatives Speak out for EVs and the Volt

The Chevy Volt is a "political football" being referred to as the car Obama required GM to build. And, of course, GM being called Government Motors.

But many of the claims that Obama made GM create and build the Volt are false. Let's go over a couple:

• The Volt was conceived of and started well before Obama took office. Bob Lutz conceived of it, not any president.
• The Electric Vehicle federal tax break was enacted during the Bush administration before Obama took office.

Now many conservatives are speaking positively for the Volt and electric cars in general. See the video below from conservative media mogul Lee Spieckerman entitled Can the Chevy Volt win the War on Terror. He doesn't believe in global warming, but does want to get us off our dependence on foreign oil.

Better yet, George Schultz who was Ronald Reagan's Secretary of State is a full-fledged EV supporter. He believes in global warming AND the need to get us off foreign oil. You must see this video with his Nissan Leaf and solar panels on the roof of his home.

So you don't have to be a liberal to love EVs like the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf. You just have to understand what is happening in our world and the negatives of our addiction to oil, particularly foreign oil.
